At Meadow View, we encourage our children to Dream big, Believe in themselves and Achieve their goals.  Through providing a diverse enriched curriculum, children strive to be the best they can be, creating a community that nurtures kindness and compassion.  Building their knowledge and experiences of the world, children leave Meadow View prepared for the challenges of the future.  We celebrate our differences, for we are all unique; however, together we are a masterpiece.

Intent 

Through our enriched Languages curriculum, we build our children’s knowledge and experiences of a multilingual and multicultural world, leaving Meadow View prepared to become confident users of language in the future.

 

The Languages curriculum at Meadow View JMI School is designed so that each pupil who experiences it will:

  • Develop communication and literacy skills that lay the foundation for future language learning
  • Develop linguistic competence, extend their knowledge of how language works and explore differences and similarities between foreign languages and English
  • Enhance their awareness of the multilingual and multicultural world and introduce an international dimension to their learning, giving them an insight into their own culture and those of others
  • Develop key skills through speaking, listening, reading and writing, cultural understanding, grammar, spelling and language learning strategies. 

 

Curriculum Overview:   

FRENCH 

Impact:

At the end of Key Stage Two, the children will be able to demonstrate appropriate knowledge, skills and understanding of French and communicate with other.

They will have had the opportunity to enrich their language learning by developing an understanding of culture and understand that French is spoken in many countries outside of France. The children will develop their awareness that languages have structures, and that the structure may differ from one language to another.  Children will also develop their knowledge, skills and understanding of language through speaking, listening, reading and writing which will pave the way for future language learning.
